India's ceiling fan market — 584 million fans in use, 60 million sold annually — sits at a critical inflection point. As rising temperatures and rapid urbanization drive cooling demand, the sector accounts for over 25% of residential electricity consumption, making it one of the highest-impact levers for national energy efficiency.

GreenTree, in partnership with NRDC India, developed the blueprint for super-efficient ceiling fans by 2030 (CF30) — a rigorous, stakeholder-driven strategy to mainstream super-efficient, domestically manufactured ceiling fans across India by 2030. Grounded in industry consultations, technical analysis, and policy mapping, the blueprint defines a clear pathway across four intervention areas: (i) design and material innovation, (ii) enhanced testing standards, (iii) demand creation, and (iv) supply chain ecosystem development.

The CF30 framework targets fans consuming as little as 21 watts (Service Value ≥10), with entry-level models priced at INR 1,300 — making high efficiency accessible at scale. Full implementation could result in a large amount of annual energy savings, strengthen domestic manufacturing, and reduce India's dependence on imported components like controllers.
