GreenTree Global and JPDCL Organise Launch-cum-Awareness Event on Demand Side Management in Jammu
Recognising the unique geographical conditions and evolving demand patterns of Jammu, Demand Side Management (DSM) has emerged as a critical tool for ensuring grid reliability, managing peak demand, and empowering consumers to adopt energy-efficient practices. In this context, the Capacity Building of DISCOMs Programme, a flagship initiative of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, is enabling focused DSM interventions across regions.
As part of this programme, On 29th December, 2025, Jammu Power Distribution Company Limited (JPDCL), in association with GreenTree Global, successfully organised a Launch-cum-Awareness Event at the Convention Centre, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, Jammu. The event marked an important step towards advancing DSM implementation in the region and strengthening stakeholder awareness on energy efficiency and clean energy solutions.
The event was graced by Sh. Shailendra Kumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Power Development Department, Jammu & Kashmir, as the Chief Guest, and Sh. Raj Kumar Chaudhary, Chairperson, Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), J&K and Ladakh, as the Guest of Honour. Their presence underscored the importance of DSM measures in supporting the region’s energy transition and enhancing power sector sustainability.
Key DSM interventions showcased during the event included Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems, Walk-through Energy Audits, and the adoption of energy-efficient appliances. GreenTree Global presented detailed insights into these initiatives, supported by select case studies, highlighting their potential to reduce peak demand, improve power quality, and promote consumer participation in energy efficiency programmes.
The programme witnessed the participation of over 120 stakeholders, including prominent citizens, representatives from industry associations, technical officials from the DISCOM, Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC), State Designated Agency (SDA), beneficiaries, vendors, and technology providers. J&K Bank facilitated on-the-spot processing for financing of rooftop solar installations, further enabling consumer adoption of clean energy solutions.
The interactive session was moderated by Er. Anil Verma, Chairman, Institution of Engineers (Jammu Centre) and Superintending Engineer, JPDCL, and saw active participation from industry bodies such as CCI Jammu, ICC J&K, Federation of Industries, and Bari Brahmana Industrial Association. Discussions focused on DSM implementation, power quality, and the role of collaborative action in achieving energy efficiency goals.
