Launch Ceremony for DSM measures in Power & Electricity Department, Government of Mizoram
In a significant move towards a sustainable future, the Power & Electricity Department of Mizoram, in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and GreenTree Global, unveiled a ground-breaking initiative on September 24, 2024. The launch event, held under the Capacity Building of DISCOMs program, marked the implementation of energy-efficient Geysers and BLDC Fans across the state.
The ceremony brought together key figures from various sectors, underlining the collaborative nature of this endeavour. Attendees included officials from the Power & Electricity Department, Mizoram State Designated Agency (SDA), state government departments, industry representatives, and other stakeholders.
Mr. F. Rodingliana, the Honourable Power Minister of Mizoram, inaugurated the event with a powerful address. He called upon citizens to embrace energy-efficient practices, emphasizing the crucial role of Demand Side Management (DSM) measures in building a sustainable energy landscape for Mizoram.
Several prominent dignitaries contributed their expertise to the event:
- Er. Laltlanthanga, Superintending Engineer (Planning), delivered the keynote address.
- Ms. R. L. Muanpuii, Chief Electrical Inspector, shared her insights.
- Mr. Benjamin, Chairperson of Mizoram State Electricity Regulatory Commission, discussed regulatory and behavioural aspects of energy conservation.
- Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Advisor at GreenTree, and Dr. C.S. Azad, Team Lead for the NE Zone, provided details on the DSM program and BEE's support.
Showcasing Energy-Efficient Technologies
A highlight of the event was the participation of vendors and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Eastern Electricals, among others, demonstrated cutting-edge energy-efficient appliances set to transform energy consumption patterns across Mizoram. These showcases emphasized the importance of integrating advanced technologies for a sustainable future, aligning perfectly with the broader goals of DSM initiatives.
